Nofar USA Adds Another Mega Project: 400 MWh Of Battery Storage Ready to Build

Nofar USA has added a major battery energy storage system (BESS) project to its growing U.S. clean energy portfolio, securing a 400 MWh storage development that is ready to move toward construction.

The project is located on brownfield land, has received site plan approval and secured a grid interconnection agreement. Nofar USA expects construction to begin within the next 12 months, with commercial operations targeted for the end of 2028.

The company is also finalizing a 15-year offtake agreement for the facility.

$230 million energy storage investment planned

The battery storage project represents an estimated investment of approximately $230 million and expands Nofar USA’s portfolio of renewable energy and storage assets across multiple U.S. power markets.

The facility will provide grid-scale energy storage capacity, helping utilities and grid operators manage electricity demand, improve reliability and integrate more renewable energy resources.

Energy storage systems store electricity during periods of lower demand or excess renewable generation and release power when demand increases. This capability helps reduce reliance on traditional gas-fired peaker plants while supporting grid stability.

Brownfield site supports faster project development

Nofar USA said the project’s existing approvals and completed interconnection process position it for accelerated development.

The company has focused on acquiring and developing energy infrastructure assets with strong market fundamentals, combining new development opportunities with strategic acquisitions.

“This project will cost about $230 million and is another important step in growing our U.S. platform,” said Allon Raveh, Chairman and CEO of Nofar USA.

“Energy storage is one of the asset classes we specialize in. It is essential infrastructure for a reliable and resilient electric grid.”

Raveh added that battery storage plays a key role in expanding renewable energy use while providing a cleaner alternative to gas-fired peak power generation.

Supporting U.S. grid modernization

The project adds to Nofar USA’s expanding portfolio of solar generation and energy storage assets across the United States. The company works across regulated and deregulated power markets through a combination of development and acquisitions.

As electricity demand grows and renewable energy deployment increases, large-scale battery storage projects are becoming an important component of modern power infrastructure. Developers are increasingly investing in BESS facilities to improve grid flexibility, support renewable integration and provide backup capacity.
