LiuGong North America has commercially launched its battery-electric construction and material handling equipment portfolio across the United States and Canada. The rollout expands the company’s presence in the growing zero-emission equipment market while bringing technology that has already logged millions of operating hours worldwide to North American job sites.
According to LiuGong, more than 60,000 battery-electric machines currently operate globally, providing extensive real-world performance data that supports the company’s latest regional expansion.
Initial Lineup Targets Construction and Material Handling
The first phase of the North American rollout includes four flagship battery-electric machines designed for construction, industrial and logistics applications:
- 856HE wheel loader
- 820TE loader
- 924FE excavator
- LRSE4531E fully electric 45-ton reach stacker
The company also plans to offer an expanding range of battery-electric forklifts, warehouse equipment and additional material handling solutions as demand grows across the region.
The portfolio addresses contractors and fleet operators seeking lower-emission equipment while maintaining productivity on construction sites, industrial facilities and distribution centers.
Battery Technology Designed for Heavy-Duty Performance
At the center of LiuGong’s electric equipment platform is a liquid-cooled battery management system (BMS) built around an advanced cell-to-pack battery architecture.
The battery management system continuously monitors key operating parameters, including:
- Battery health
- State of charge
- Charging performance
- Thermal management
- Diagnostic functions
- Integrated safety systems
The system helps optimize battery efficiency, extend service life and maximize equipment uptime across demanding operating conditions.
By actively managing battery temperature and performance, the platform supports consistent machine output while reducing maintenance requirements throughout the equipment lifecycle.
Platform Adapted for North American Market
Rather than introducing existing international models without modification, LiuGong engineers adapted the electric platform to meet regional operating requirements.
The company aligned the equipment with North American charging standards, electrical infrastructure, software platforms, environmental conditions, safety certifications and dealer service practices.
These modifications aim to simplify fleet integration while ensuring compatibility with local charging networks, maintenance procedures and contractor operating environments.
According to LiuGong, the engineering updates allow the machines to deliver reliable performance across a wide range of North American construction and industrial applications.
Company Builds on Global Electric Equipment Experience
LiuGong says its battery-electric platform already has extensive field validation through commercial operations around the world.
Andrew Ryan, President of LiuGong North America, emphasized the company’s experience as it enters the regional electric equipment market.
“Our battery-electric platform has already proven itself through millions of commercial operating hours around the world. Now we’re bringing that experience to North America with machines engineered specifically for this market and backed by years of commercial operation.”
The company believes this operational history provides contractors with confidence as electric heavy equipment adoption continues to expand.
Electric Equipment Market Continues to Grow
Construction equipment manufacturers continue investing in battery-electric technologies as contractors seek solutions that reduce emissions, lower operating costs and comply with evolving environmental regulations.
Wheel loaders, excavators and material handling equipment have emerged as key categories for electrification because many applications involve predictable duty cycles and opportunities for scheduled charging.
LiuGong’s latest product launch reflects this broader industry trend while strengthening competition in the North American electric construction equipment market.
The company stated that the current lineup represents only the first phase of its regional strategy. LiuGong expects to introduce additional battery-electric construction and material handling products throughout 2027 as it continues expanding and validating its electric equipment portfolio for North American customers.
