Bouygues Construction Acquires Vannoy Construction to Expand U.S. Presence

Bouygues Construction Acquires Vannoy Construction in U.S. Market

Bouygues Construction has completed the acquisition of Vannoy Construction, a leading general contractor based in Charlotte, North Carolina, strengthening its position in the United States construction market. The deal expands Bouygues Construction’s footprint across the Southeast, a region experiencing strong growth in infrastructure, healthcare, education, manufacturing, retail, and data center development.

The acquisition marks a significant step in Bouygues Construction’s international growth strategy. The company aims to increase its presence in stable and high-potential markets while leveraging local expertise to deliver complex construction projects.

Bouygues Construction Strengthens Position in Southeast U.S. Market

Bouygues Construction finalized the acquisition of Vannoy Construction on June 30, 2026. The North Carolina-based contractor generated €873 million in revenue in 2025 and maintains a strong project pipeline across several strategic sectors.

Vannoy Construction has built a reputation as a leading general contractor in the southeastern United States. The company delivers projects for public and private clients, with expertise spanning healthcare facilities, educational institutions, manufacturing facilities, and commercial developments.

The acquisition gives Bouygues Construction a stronger presence in one of the fastest-growing regions in the United States. Population growth, industrial expansion, and increased investment in critical infrastructure continue to drive construction demand throughout the Southeast.

Bouygues Construction reported €10.6 billion in revenue in 2025 and continues to expand across Europe, the Asia-Pacific region, and North America. The company views the U.S. market as a key component of its international development strategy.

Acquisition Expands Bouygues Construction’s U.S. Construction Network

Before acquiring Vannoy Construction, Bouygues Construction had already established operations in several U.S. markets. The company has worked on major projects in Florida, Rhode Island, and Washington, D.C.

Its U.S. portfolio includes developments such as:

  • Pier Sixty-Six in Florida
  • The Palmer Lakes Logistics Center
  • The Hamilton House development
  • The Pawtucket tunnel project in Rhode Island
  • The Potomac River tunnel project in Washington, D.C.

The acquisition strengthens Bouygues Construction’s capabilities in the Southeast, where demand continues to rise for infrastructure upgrades, healthcare facilities, educational buildings, industrial projects, and data centers.

The company also expects the acquisition to create new opportunities across the wider Bouygues Group ecosystem. Other subsidiaries, including Equans and Colas, already operate in the region, allowing the group to provide broader construction and infrastructure solutions.

Vannoy Construction Brings Decades of Regional Experience

Vannoy Construction began operations in 1952 when Jim and Wilma Vannoy founded the company in Jefferson, North Carolina. Over more than seven decades, the contractor has developed a strong regional reputation based on quality delivery, client relationships, and workforce commitment.

Today, Vannoy Construction operates from seven locations across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. The company works with government agencies, institutions, developers, and private-sector clients on high-value construction projects.

The acquisition allows Vannoy Construction to access Bouygues Construction’s global resources, including engineering expertise, innovation capabilities, experience delivering complex projects, and an international network.

However, Bouygues Construction plans to preserve the core elements behind Vannoy Construction’s success. The company will maintain its family heritage, client-focused approach, operational culture, and commitment to project execution.

Leadership Highlights Shared Growth Vision

Pierre-Éric Saint-André, Chief Executive Officer of Bouygues Construction, described the acquisition as a major milestone in expanding the company’s U.S. operations.

“This acquisition is a landmark in strengthening our operations in the United States,” Saint-André said. “It makes perfect sense, and I am in no doubt that it will help unlock Vannoy Construction’s growth potential and add resilience to Bouygues Construction’s growth model in mature economies.”

He added that both companies share similar values, including long-term planning, commitment to projects, and building trusted relationships with clients and partners.

Mark Vannoy, President of Vannoy Construction, said the acquisition represents a new stage in the company’s history while maintaining continuity.

“This operation signals a new phase in our company’s history. It’s an evolution, not a break with the past,” Vannoy said.

He emphasized that the company will retain its management team, brand identity, and culture following the transaction.

“With the support of Bouygues Construction, we have no doubt that Vannoy Construction will now have everything it needs to keep growing and to write a new chapter in its history,” Vannoy added.

Strategic Outlook for U.S. Construction Growth

The acquisition reflects a broader trend among global construction companies seeking stronger regional positions in the U.S. market. Growing demand for infrastructure modernization, healthcare expansion, advanced manufacturing facilities, and digital infrastructure continues to attract investment from international contractors.

By combining Bouygues Construction’s global capabilities with Vannoy Construction’s regional expertise, the partnership aims to deliver larger and more complex projects across the Southeast.

The transaction positions Bouygues Construction to expand its construction capabilities while maintaining a local approach through Vannoy Construction’s established relationships and experienced teams.
